Earlier this year we gave a team of eight young project managers the opportunity to run this project as the practical part of their studies at Cape Peninsula University of Technology. To date we’ve run the following events for youth at risk:
* Ferrari day at the Killarney race track where 10 youths from Woodstock had the chance of a lifetime to be driven around the track in a Ferrari.
* Abseil day at Paarl rock where 10 youths from Boys Town had the opportunity to face their fears and abseil down a sheer 60 metre drop.
* Shark cage diving gave another 10 youths the opportunity to dive with the great white sharks in Gansbaai. An adrenaline filled experience of note!
* Community service day gave 15 youths the opportunity to give back and make a difference by helping to clean up Wright and Cornevil streets in Woodstock.
These events have influenced 45 young adults directly, giving them new perspectives and direction, while benefiting the communities they have helped.
"Creating extraordinary change requires extraordinary circumstances. Adrenalize is a developmental concept that promotes youth development by organizing for disadvantaged youngsters to experience extreme activities combined with life skills training programmes." Marcelle Steyn – Adrenalize project manager
