Edward Jones comes to Phillipi

With no funding whatsoever of any kind, she also feeds the children in grades 3 to 7 who receive no free lunch from the school (the Government provides lunch for 2nd grades in the local elementary school). Twice a week, Mama Rosey, as she's affectionately known throughout Philippi, buys food and a gas tank with her own money, borrows a stove from a neighbor, and, with 4 volunteers, cooks meals for both the children and the residents of a senior citizens home and delivers it.

On Wednesday 23 July Love to Africa and 30 volunteers from Edward Jones Investments (USA) erected two FoodTents at the Bongolethu Primary School in Philippi to assist Mama Rosey and her team with her feeding scheme. It was a wonderful day for all involved. The volunteers enjoyed the experience and were very pleased to see the result of their work at the end of the day. Once the children at the school received their soup and bread many got involved in the process of filling the bags with saw dust and soil.

We were really pleased to see the Tents stand where once there was unused land- we wish Mama Rosey and her team all the best in their selfless endeavors to feed the children so that they can be more attentive students.

We would like to thank the team from Edward Jones for giving their time and energy to make this happen

Edward Jones Investments also made a huge investment in the children's future by leaving behind books, stationary and learning materials.

Thank you for giving your Love to Africa!
