In early October, a group of brave souls ventured out to Gansbaai to take part in a life-changing adrenaline rush – cage diving with Great White sharks. Adrenalize, a youth development programme managed by heart, seeks to generate extraordinary change through extraordinary experiences.

 A group of 13 brave souls ventured out from Woodstock towards Gansbaai this past Sunday in search of a life changing adrenaline rush. The group consisted of 8 young men from Percy Bartley House, a temporary home for boys who are facing challenges in their lives. The event was part of Adrenalize - a youth development project managed by Heart, a local NGO based in Woodstock.

For many youngsters, trying to escape a life of poverty avoiding gangsterism and violence is a nearly impossible task.

Earlier this year we gave a team of eight young project managers the opportunity to run this project as the practical part of their studies at Cape Peninsula University of Technology. These events have influenced 45 young adults directly, giving them new perspectives and direction, while benefiting the communities they have helped.

PAARL ROCK was recently alive with youngsters abseiling from this giant granite rock, but not only were these youngsters adre-naline seekers, but they are part of a group of disadvantaged youths from Cape Town participating in the Adrenalize project.

Adrenalize, a new initiative by the Heart of Healing, kicked off 2009 with three extraordinary events designed to create extraordinary change in disadvantaged youth – a bridge swing, shark cage diving and surfing.
